Lead Free Rhinestones

All lead crystal rhinestones contain some part of lead, and are considered safe for adults in jewelry and as rhinestone embellishment on clothing. At no time should lead crystal rhinestones be eaten, licked, or chewed - they are not food!

The US Federal law, as of August 2009, states that children and infant clothing that is made strictly for the purpose of reselling (retail) must not contain more than 100 ppm of lead. The following rhinestone brands are affected by this:

*Swarovski
*Czech Preciosa
*All Asian Rhinestones (korea, china)

Children are defined as those who are 12 years or younger.

Customers that re-package our products for sale should make sure to include any warnings about lead, and the harm it may cause (disclosure notice), on their packaging so they are not in violation of any state or federal statutes.

If you are not selling to children 12 years and under - you are fine, and do not need to worry about the "lead law". Buy your transfers, apply to garments, and resell at your leisure!

For those of you that wish to sell to children that are affected by the law we suggest using Rhinestuds or a Low-Lead Rhinestones (they DO exist).
